Ugh...
I am going to quit smoking. These past few weeks that I've been hanging out with friends and drinking or being bored with nothing to do, I smoke. I've worked up to a little more than 1/2 a pack a day, sometimes less, sometimes more. Now I get really tired after a cigarette. I think it's because of a lack of oxygen. I'm not short of breath, I just get totally wiped out and feel like I need a nap. Either that or it's like I'm trying to suck air through a straw. I crave a cigarette and don't feel satisfied.

I'm at the point where I'm starting to feel guilty too. If I end up with lung cancer then I will die because of my own doing. I never wanted to quit, because I enjoyed it. I quit for almost a year, but started up again around Thanksgiving of this year. I'm back to not enjoying it.

I won't buy any more smokes. Time to get some gum.

It really isn't hard for me to cut back during the day, but then at night when I go to have drinks with friends, I wind up smoking all that I didn't smoke before then. It's better for me to just not have them at all, and I'm not good at mooching off friends, so I won't just bum from everyone.

I've been good about it lately though, because there aren't many of my friends who do smoke. I'm usually the one who drags people outside with me or leaves to go out alone and smoke. I have just been getting occupied with something going on inside, or into a conversation and I forget about the craving.

It's kind of like me and cookies or something. If I have them in the house I can eat one or two for just a few days, but then there always comes a time when I break down and have 6!! I find that if I remove the temptation for long enough, it's easier to resist once I'm out of the habit and faced with it again.

I'm quitting after next week I think. I felt guilty for a time, but it's kind of subsided. I do really enjoy it as much as I know it's bad for me. I am scared I will replace those cigs with more food though :(

Good luck hon!
